Our culture is the human side of our business model. It is one of the most valuable and protected assets of the Firm. While it is difficult to understand any culture without directly experiencing it, we believe that developing an appreciation of our Firm culture will help explain the longevity and success of Stark Investments.
From inception, collaboration has been an important source of innovation. Many of our best insights have been discovered in open dialogue between people who see the world differently. We look for collegial individuals who are willing to share their best ideas and possess the humility to build upon the ideas of others. We value the people and ideas that move our business forward, rather than hierarchy.
Our business is complex, but our organization is closely knit and transparent. Stark’s flat structure enables people to apply their talents without the weight of unnecessary bureaucracy. Responsibility and accountability are clear, enabling us to move quickly and efficiently.
We have designed a compensation structure to reinforce and encourage this collaborative culture. While Stark’s ten principals oversee different strategic functions, they share ownership and responsibility for the profitability of the entire Firm. Similarly, all associates share a bonus pool based primarily on the overall profitability of our Firm. This simple, yet powerful, unity of incentives is a necessary condition to encourage true collaboration across all dimensions of the business.
