Brian Stark
Founding Principal
Brian Stark is a Founding Principal of Stark Investments and oversees the Firm"s investment strategies, capital allocation, corporate governance, and strategic planning. In addition, Brian directs the Firm"s private equity and private real estate efforts. Prior to entering professional fund management and forming Stark Capital Management, LLC in 1986, he was a partner at the commercial litigation firm of Coghill & Goodspeed, P.C. Brian earned his law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School (1980) and his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Brown University (1977).
Michael Roth
Founding Principal
Mike Roth is a Founding Principal of Stark Investments and oversees the Firm"s marketing, investor relations, and administration efforts. In addition, Mike shares responsibility for the Firm"s investment strategies, capital allocation, corporate governance, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Brian Stark in 1988, Mike practiced law at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., where he specialized in antitrust and regulatory litigation. Mike earned his law degree from Harvard Law School (1980) and his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1977).
Robert Barnard
Principal
Rob Barnard is the Senior Portfolio Manager overseeing North American convertibles and derivatives, long/short equities, loans, credit-related strategies, and reinsurance and risk-linked instruments. Prior to joining Stark in 1993, he worked for the Amoco Corporation in accounting and derivatives risk management. Rob holds a Masters of Business Administration (1993) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (1990) from Indiana University.
Michael Keough
Principal
Mike Keough is the Senior Portfolio Manager for North American risk arbitrage and distressed investing, Latin American emerging markets, and worldwide fixed-income, energy and commodity, and physical energy asset investments. Prior to joining Stark in 1996, Mike was a senior equity trader for Cargill, Inc. in the financial markets division, where he managed equity derivatives and risk arbitrage positions. Mike holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (1994) and a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Iowa College of Business (1986).
Stuart Wilson
Principal
Stu Wilson is a Senior Portfolio Manager for the Asian markets. Prior to joining Stark in 1997, he was part of the Asian Trading team at Citadel Investment Group, where he traded Japanese warrants and convertible bonds and was responsible for Asian stock and loan financing. Stu holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (1997) and a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University (1993).
Mohsin Ansari
Principal
Mohsin Ansari is the Senior Portfolio Manager for Europe and a Senior Portfolio Manager for the Asian markets. Prior to joining Stark in 1998, he worked at Citadel Investment Group and was a Portfolio Manager/Analyst at Fidelity Investments. Mohsin holds a Masters in Operations Research (1994), a Masters in Electrical Engineering (1993), a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1992), and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics (1992) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Joseph Lucas
Principal and CFO
Joe Lucas is the Chief Financial Officer responsible for all financial operations, including capital structuring and financing, back office operations, financial and corporate accounting, and liquidity management. Prior to joining Stark in 1994, Joe was the Chief Financial Officer for S/W Trading, then one of the largest global proprietary option trading firms in the United States. Joe began his career as a regulatory auditor on the Chicago Board of Trade auditing the compliance and financial aspects of member clearing firms. Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Accounting from Loyola University (1982).
Donald Bobbs
Principal
Don Bobbs is a Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for North American lending and credit-related strategies. In addition, Don oversees the Firm"s team of credit analysts. Prior to joining Stark in 1999, he worked at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in capacities ranging from securities analyst to portfolio manager in the Private Placement and High Yield/Emerging Market departments. Don holds a Masters of Business Administration (1989) and a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Business Analysis with Distinction (1984) from Indiana University.
Brian Davidson
Principal
Brian Davidson is a Senior Portfolio Manager for North American special situations equity investments and private placements. Prior to joining Stark in 1997, he was an Associate Director in the Private Placement Department at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, he was an auditor at Arthur Young & Co. Brian holds a Masters of Business Administration (1988) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (1983) from the University of Michigan.
Colin Lancaster
Principal
Colin Lancaster is a Senior Portfolio Manager for North American risk arbitrage and distressed investing, Latin American emerging markets, and worldwide fixed-income, commodity, and physical energy asset investments. Before joining the trading desk in 2002, Colin served as General Counsel of Stark Investments. Prior to joining Stark in 2000, Colin served as General Counsel of Knight Financial Products and its asset management subsidiary, Deephaven Capital. Colin earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from Marquette University School of Law (1993), where he served as editor-in-chief of the Marquette Law Review. Colin holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University (1990).
