Brian Stark
Founding Principal, CEO and CIO
Brian Stark is the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer responsible for global portfolio construction and capital allocation. Prior to entering professional fund management and forming Stark Capital Management, LLC in 1986, he was a partner at the commercial litigation firm of Coghill & Goodspeed, P.C. Brian earned his law degree, cum laude, from Harvard Law School (1980) and his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Brown University (1977).
Michael Roth
Founding Principal
Mike Roth is a Founding Principal of Stark Investments and oversees the Firm's marketing and investor relations efforts. In addition, Mike sits on the Firm's Executive Committee and shares responsibility for corporate governance and strategic planning. Prior to joining Brian Stark in 1988, Mike practiced law at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C., where he specialized in antitrust and regulatory litigation. Mike earned his law degree from Harvard Law School (1980) and his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (1977).
Robert Barnard
Principal and Deputy CIO
Rob Barnard is the Deputy Chief Investment Officer responsible for global portfolio construction, including the ongoing evaluation of new opportunities and existing investments. Prior to joining Stark in 1993, he worked for the Amoco Corporation in accounting and derivatives risk management. Rob holds a Masters of Business Administration (1993) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (1990) from Indiana University.
Michael Keough
Principal
Mike Keough is a Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for all North American investment strategies. Prior to joining Stark in 1996, Mike was a senior equity trader for Cargill, Inc. in the financial markets division, where he managed equity derivatives and risk arbitrage positions. Mike holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (1994) and a Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Iowa College of Business (1986).
Joseph Lucas
Principal and CFO
Joe Lucas is the Chief Financial Officer responsible for global financial operations, including accounting, back office operations, finance, structured products and prime broker financing. Prior to joining Stark in 1994, Joe was the Chief Financial Officer for S/W Trading, then one of the largest global proprietary option trading firms in the United States. Joe began his career as a regulatory auditor on the Chicago Board of Trade auditing the compliance and financial aspects of member clearing firms. Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts in Public Accounting from Loyola University (1982).
Donald Bobbs
Principal
Don Bobbs is a Senior Portfolio Manager with responsibility for North American lending and credit-related strategies. Prior to joining Stark in 1999, he worked at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in capacities ranging from securities analyst to portfolio manager in the Private Placement and High Yield/Emerging Market departments. Don holds a Masters of Business Administration (1989) and a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Business Analysis with Distinction (1984) from Indiana University.
Brian Davidson
Principal
Brian Davidson is a Senior Portfolio Manager with responsibility for North American public and private equity and real estate related investments. Prior to joining Stark in 1997, he was an Associate Director in the Private Placement Department at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company. Prior to joining Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, he was an auditor at Arthur Young & Co. Brian holds a Masters of Business Administration (1988) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (1983) from the University of Michigan.
Colin Lancaster
Principal / President and COO
Colin Lancaster is the President and Chief Operating Officer primarily responsible for the execution of the strategic vision and the overall administration of the Firm. In April of 2008, Colin transitioned to this role from the trading desk, where he was a Senior Portfolio Manager on the Global Opportunities team. Colin began his career with Stark as General Counsel in 2000 and joined the trading desk in 2002 while continuing to serve as General Counsel until 2006. Prior to joining Stark in 2000, Colin served as General Counsel of Knight Financial Products and its asset management subsidiary, Deephaven Capital. Colin earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from Marquette University School of Law (1993), where he served as editor-in-chief of the Marquette Law Review. Colin holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University (1990).
Marc Wyatt
Principal
Marc Wyatt is a Senior Portfolio Manager responsible for European markets and European and Asian Credit-related strategies. Prior to joining Stark in 2004, Marc was the Director of Hedge Funds Sales at Merrill Lynch. Previously, Marc was a senior investment banker for Merrill Lynch and BT Alex Brown. Marc's banking experience includes capital markets execution, M&A advisory and corporate restructuring. Prior to working in Europe, Marc was a high yield analyst for Alex Brown and senior analyst at Fitch Investors where he assigned ratings to structured finance products. Marc holds a Masters of Business Administration from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University (1994) and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from University of Delaware (1990). Marc is a Chartered Financial Analyst charter holder and a member of the United Kingdom Society of Investment Professionals.
